Most of the islands have wonderful hiking trails of different levels of difficulty, a perfect way to explore and stretch your legs!
Yes Lake Superior is cold, but it's also refreshing, rejuvenating and sparkling clean! A must do treat while sailing with Nauti Adventures.
The Apostle Islands harbor the largest collection of lighthouses in the world. A necessity for past mariners, a treat to see for current ones!
With a total of 22 islands in this island collective, the Apostle Islands has some of the most beautiful and secluded anchorages in the world.
A newer attraction to the area, which is odd because they were created some 100,000 years ago, the rock formations here are a must see.
It's not all sailing, water and islands while on your sailing vacation, there are also two villages to explore and sightsee through.
Whether enjoying a libation while sailing through the islands, or visiting the world famous Tom's Burnt Down Bar, it's five O'clock while on charter!
One of the most spectacular parts of sailing in these private islands are the beautiful, sugar sand, secluded beaches. Romance at it's finest!
We know this isn't for everyone, but pulling in a monster lake trout from the cool waters of Lake Superior is pretty remarkable.
There is nothing you NEED to do while aboard Nauti Adventures, but if learning to sail interests you, our handsome Captain and show you the ropes. Pun intended!
There is so much to see and take in while traveling here. You can tour historic fishing camps, lighthouses, stone quarries and Indian burial grounds from thousands of years ago.
With no light pollution filling the sky, the stargazing is second to none in the Apostle Islands, including the Northern Lights! Definitely one of the highlights our charter guests enjoy.
Well it's a play on words, but basically we encourage you to vacation however you want. We don't yuck your yum, if you will. You are free to vacation as you are and as you want aboard a Nauti Adventures sailing charter. Captain Beau is here to make your sailing charter the very best experience it can be, without any judgement. Parka, speedo, nude, in love, grumpy, male, female, straight or gay, we encourage you to join us for a carefree vacation, as you want to.
We carry coast guard approved life jackets. They are not meant for continuous usage. They are very good at keeping you afloat, but not very comfortable to wear. If you feel as though you will want to wear a life jacket continuously, we suggest bringing your own. All children under 12 are required to wear a life jacket while underway. For the safety of your children, we ask that you bring your child's own life jacket. This is to ensure proper fit and comfort.
Well you won't be scrubbing the decks, which is a shame! But honestly outside of cooking and cleaning up after yourselves, and your guests, there isn't much you are required to do. Remember the Captain is there to be your your trusted mariner and guide. He is not responsible for cooking and cleaning up after guests. He will go over everything during your on-boarding meeting, once you arrive.
The bathroom, or head as they are referred to on a vessel, is like you would find in a small camper. The head consists of a manual flush toilet, with a hand sink, mirrors and plenty of counter space. This room also doubles as a shower, if privacy is needed. Most guests enjoy the deck shower, for ease of use and the wonderful feeling of outdoor showering. Remember, this is supposed to be a roughing it adventure.
When you book an Apostle Islands charter, you are booking the boat and accommodations, the use and enjoyability of the boat, and our licensed Captain to handle boat work and be your professional guide. What is not included is your food, beverages and provisions, nor a cook and cleaning person. It is the guests responsibility to clean-up after themselves and keep the boat in good condition.
As we have mentioned several times, this is an adventure vacation. There are risks at hand, children need to be behave and be monitored while they are aboard. They could easily slip and fall overboard, and this water is cold! Please make sure you think through if your child is a good candidate for this type of vacation. They are more than welcome, but the captain is not the babysitter! We also recommend they know how to swim, efficiently.
Granted we have a lot of comforts you will find at home, aboard, but this is still an adventure vacation. You are experiencing what it is like to live aboard a sailboat and visit this national park like people have for hundreds of years, by sailboat. There is no AC, you will get bug bites, it might rain, a boat part might brake, you might even get poison ivy. These are some of the risks to this adventure, but the reward is oh so worth it!
You are on a sailing adventure similar to camping in a pop-up camper or small camper. Space is limited, please don't pack hard sided luggage. A duffel bag is perfect and more than enough packing space for what you will need. They are easy to stow away, move around without damaging the boat, and are easier to handle in small spaces. We have honestly had people bring suitcases that wouldn't fit through the door!
Yes, it could happen, but let's take some of the worry out it for you. If you are prone to getting sea sickness, we recommend starting a Dramamine regimen the night before your charter start date. This will ensure you do not get sick while aboard, and you can always stop taking it if you feel comfortable during your trip. Preventative!
We have fresh linens for bedding and dishes, plus extra hand towels and towels for bathing. It's recommended that guests bring their own beach towels, as we would like to keep all linens aboard so they do not get lost. We also do not have wash clothes for bathing. This should be considered a personal belonging and is the guests responsibility. We also have new, clean pillows, but feel free to bring your own.
We hear this on every charter, "I brought too much stuff!" Well, don't! You need your personal belongings, beverages and food. That's it! We have common stuff on board already. You just bring the clothes you want to wear, the beverages you want to enjoy, and the food you want to eat. Don't overthink and don't over pack!
For all your playlist needs, we have a Bluetooth enabled sound system on board. Make sure to download your favorite playlists and you'll be able to jam out to your favorite music while aboard. Captain Beau enjoys boat music, so you can always ask him to play his favorite jams, but be ready for some Jimmy Buffett!
The Captain will go over everything with you once you are aboard. Don't worry there aren't that many rules, but the general rule of thumb is, please treat the boat with respect. She is caring for you and your loved ones, please do the same to back to her. Also, shoes are NOT allowed while aboard, unless boat shoes.
Captain Beau has been sailing his entire life and he has the diaper sailing pictures to prove it! Beau has sailed some 100,000 nautical miles, in destinations all over the world, though he has a special place in his heart for the Apostle Islands.
As a gay owned and operated company, we PROUDLY welcome anyone under the rainbow. We definitely enjoy our gay sailing trips, but we encourage everyone to come sailing with us. We make each charter a custom experience for our guests.
